As an Atlanta home inspector, one of the things that I look for on every home inspection that I do is the gutters and where they are dumping the water. The last thing you want is the water ending up right against your foundation.
Gutter maintenance is very important and you want to keep your gutter and downspouts clear of all debris and check for any damage or separations that would prevent water from flowing properly through them. Rainwater spilling out on a concentrated area can create low places in your grade and allow water to concentrate against your foundation wall and in time can deteriorate the concrete or concrete block joints. It will also start seeping through cracks in your basement wall and cause a basement leak.
Where the water exits at the bottom of the downspout is a critical area. It must be allowed to flow away from the foundation. This can consist of a simple splash block or a drain pipe as needed. Make sure that your splash block is doing it’s job properly.

Atlanta home inspector shares Sequoyah Regional Library News

We are all the time taking our kids to the Sequoyah Regional Library and I just read in the All Around Town Magazine that the library has new hours.
New Hours are as follows:
Monday – Thursday: 9:00 am – 8 pm
Friday and Saturday 9 am – 5 pm
Sunday 2 – 6 pm
Also the libraries will be closed Friday, April 10 and Sunday April, 12.

As an Atlanta home inspectors wife, I go to meetings and trainings on a regular basis. I have been attending the Women’s Council of Realtors Cherokee sponsored tech events lately. Yesterday I was able to go to an FMLS, GMLS and Realist.com class and was amazed at the tips, tricks and information that was shared with everyone. There was about eight to ten of us there and we really got some great information. Some really missed out. Everyone left feeling like they had been given some gold nuggets and they said “We’re coming back for more!” Now this is the cool part is these labs are hands on type training. Bring your laptop and you’re sitting there working on whatever you need to be working on whether it be blogging, social networking, creating special reports in FMLS, learning new tips and setting up your profile on GMLS Pro, and should you run into a problem you have someone there to answer your questions. Here’s the amazing part of the deal THEY’RE FREE to anyone who wants to participate. Come one, come all. Here is a list of classes that are tentatively setup.

The following was borrowed from the “Frosty Frogs” monthly newsletter. Talk about a great place to eat, they now have opened their new reastarant which is still located right in the old part of “Hickory Flat” in the Publix shopping center. I love their cotton candy ice cream and I’m going to have to go get some very soon. They serve lunch also, not just ice cream, so stop on by. A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller.
He can see from her nameplate that her name is Patricia Whack.
‘Miss Whack, I’d like to get a $30,000 loan to take a holiday.’
Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name. The frog says his
name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it’s okay, he
knows the bank manager.
Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some collateral.
The frog says, ‘Sure. I have this,’ and produces a tiny porcelain elephant,
about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed.
Very confused, Patty explains that she’ll have to consult with the bank
manager and disappears into a back office.
She finds the manager and says, ‘There’s a frog called Kermit Jagger out
there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000, and he wants
to use this as collateral.’
She holds up the tiny pink elephant. ‘I mean, what in the world is this?’
(You’re gonna love this!)
The bank manager looks back at her and says…
‘It’s a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan, His old man’s a
Rolling Stone.’
(You’re singing it, aren’t you? Yeah, I know you are…….)

DRIVER’S ED WINTER SESSIONS FOR HOMESCHOOL STUDENTS

course approved by the Department of Driver Services in order to receive a
Class D License. Those who do not complete an approved driver education
course must wait until age 17 to become licensed. Students must also obtain
ADAP certification (see details below).
Two separate state-certified sessions of Driver’s Ed will be offered at The
King’s Academy in Woodstock on the following dates:
* Thursdays, January 22-March 19
* Mondays and Wednesdays, February 2-March 4 (This start date was
recently changed)
The King’s Academy is located at 471 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA 30188.
All classes will be held from 12:00-4:00 pm in room 201 (upstairs in gym
building).
Trinity Driver Education provides this service to homeschool students.

. 30 hours of classroom instruction
. 6 hours behind-the-wheel instruction
. Class Fee $350.00
Attendance at all classes are mandatory. The six hours of behind-the-wheel
instruction are included in the program fee but must be scheduled
individually with Trinity Driver Education instructors.

Cherokee County is gearing up for baseball season!

I’m a Canton home inspector for several reasons. One of them is so that I can attend and be a part of my childrens lives. Both of my kids are very active in sports and we are once again gearing up for the Cherokee County baseball season. I like being able to schedule my work around the events that go on with both of them. That is one of the benefits of owning my own Canton home inspection business.
