We did roofing for many years and had so many problems with these cheap rubber boots we quit using them we finally went back to the full leaded wrap boot which will last a hundred years end of all or problems although we no longer install roofs we still repair tons of them and on a hip style roof like this there are very few places for it to leak .-= don@handyman services´s last blog ..Links =-.

You make a great point; an inspector can’t be held responsible for aspects of a job when s/he could not perform an adequate inspection. We routinely inspect many buildings and make educated estimations when unable to safely access particular areas. With that said, we make sure to inform the client when that occurs.

That cheap PVC boot is the cause of so many leaks on the roofs we inspect. Either the sealing ring wears out or the plastic base gets brittle and cracks. I would like to see everybody use the lead boots instead.
